Check Your Breasts Not Just On No Bra Day

Last week I saw that No Bra Day was trending online among Nigerians. Basically it’s a day that ladies choose not to wear a bra for the day. Most people who I saw participating by posting pictures of themselves without a bra on did not mention what the trend was about. I honestly would not have guessed that it was for breast cancer awareness but I figured it must be the case since we’re in October.

Oct-Breast-Cancer-Awareness-Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women around the world. It is estimated that annually 220,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 40,000 will die. The risk of death is greatly reduced if the cancer is detected early. The best method of detection is to get a mammogram annually. I know two women that died of breast cancer last year. TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY. Remind all the women in your lives about this. I know that our mothers especially, can get so caught up with their lives and taking care of the family that they forget to take care of themselves. This year, make it a point to make sure that they get a mammogram. Make that appointment for them and drive them to the doctor yourself if you have to.
